Renault kept their 2008 drivers for 2009, Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet Jr.
The R29 is probably best described as 'best of the rest' behind Brawn, Red Bull
and now the new rejuvenated McLaren and Ferrari.
Alonso so far has managed 3 5th places at best.
Piquet's best was only a 12th which led to him being sacked after Hungary and
replaced by rookie driver Romain Grosjean.
*Today Renault were handed a 2 year suspended ban with an indefinate ban for
Flavio Briatore in FIA events and a 5 year ban for Pat Symonds, both of whom
have left the team, for their part in the 2008 Singapore race fixing scandal
which engineered a win for Alonso.
