From the F1-S-R 1994 F1 mod for rFactor comes the MTV Simtek Ford S941
The 1994 season was a tragic one which centred on the events of Imola and death of
triple champion Ayrton Senna. No doubt this event somewhat overshadowed
the previous days fataility of rookie driver Roland Ratzenberger who lost
his life during qualifying after damaging his front wing on the previous
lap, only for it for break free and go under the car on the next lap sending
him into a wall at high speed.
The death of Ratzenberger affected
Senna deeply to the extent that an unfurled flag of Ratzenbergers home
country of Austria was found in Senna's wreckage from which he intended to
use as a tribute to him had Senna won. Indeed after the Ratzenberger
incident Senna almost decided not to race the next day.
Simtek
replaced Ratzenberger with 3 different drivers for the remainder of the
season (Montermini, Gounon and Schiattarella) to partner team-mate David
Brabham.
Among numerous retirements for team during the season it was
Jean-Marc Gounon who scored their highest placing of 9th in Canada.
6 renders of
the S941 belonging to the not-forgotten Roland Ratzenberger @ 1920x1200 res.
